From the Vice President André Paquet :
The Annual General Meeting was held again this year, this time in Drummondville on June 7. Why there? you may ask. Simply because of its central geographic location, which, it was believed, allowed us to bring together, in addition to the usual participants, members from neighboring regions: Montérégie (13 members), the National Capital Region (24 members), and Montreal (11 members), not to mention Central Quebec (2 members). Of course, members from more distant regions were invited as well.
Unfortunately, for reasons that we have yet to clarify (inappropriate date because too early or too late? invitations sent too late? registration too expensive?, etc.), few members attended the AGM, resulting in immense disappointment on the part of the members present as well as those on the board of directors who, alone, constituted almost half of the registered members (!), namely a dozen, which represented barely 9% of the active individual members... Your comments on this subject would be appreciated in order to readjust our aim and avoid the next annual general meeting also turning into a “flop”.
During the AGM, amendments to the bylaws were presented to the members present and approved in accordance with the rules in place. These amendments were necessary, as the duties of the board members have changed/evolved in recent years, particularly following the implementation of new technologies.
As in the past, the Association is moving forward with new projects, including those arising from the obligations set out in Bill 25 (or the Act to modernize legislative provisions relating to the protection of personal information). A document retention schedule and a complaints management policy will therefore be developed in the coming months.
So, this year again, we’ll have plenty to do. Don’t hesitate to contribute by writing to us to share your findings (texts, photos, etc.) that will enrich the Michaud Family Association and its members. Have a great end to the season!
André Paquet, Vice President (1690)
