Dear members,

Spring is finally upon us. It has been a long time coming this year. Maybe it’s winter that came much too early.

Let’s start with two major changes experienced this year.

The Fédération des associations des familles du Québec has closed the books. The council distributed the money that remained in the account among the family associations still members of the Fédération. To continue to receive services as part of our mission and activities, such as insurance for the Association, our Association has joined the Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie. Take the time to visit their website FQSG, you will find very interesting information about genealogy.

As of this year, the membership fee will have a maturity of 12 or 36 months depending on your choice. We are moving from a renewal on March 31 for everyone to a renewal on the anniversary of your membership. Example: You become a member on June 6, 2026. The renewal of your membership fee must be done by June 6, 2027 (if you paid for one year) or by June 6, 2029 (if you pay for three years). By the way, we would love to see our membership grow, so I am calling on each of you to recruit more people to join our Association.

Spring, for the Association’s board of directors, also means: prepare for the annual meeting. We look forward to seeing you or seeing you again. In this newsletter, you will find the notice of the Annual General Meeting of our organization. I would even dare to say: of YOUR association. Each year, we visit a different region to allow several of you to attend. This gathering is important for the vitality of an organization. You will be able to meet with the directors of the board of directors, read and approve the reports of activities and finances. You will also be able to see or get to know other members of the AFMI. It is an opportunity to exchange between members with a common goal: to be part of the same big family. I particularly invite members from the greater Trois-Rivières area. We will be there to receive you.

To conclude, just a little reminder: in 2027, the Michaud Family Association will be 40 years old. We are starting to think about how we could mark this event. Do you have any ideas? Do you want to get involved in the organization of the party? We would love to hear your feedback, please feel free to write to us.
